The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and high-quality teaching responsibilities.
Clinical responsibilities may include work on non-resident, acute care hospital services and also may include specialized populations such as oncology, LTACH service, or consults/surgical co-management. Core practice sites are the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and Good Shepherd Penn Partners/Penn Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine.
Prior experience as faculty at other academic institutions in general medical practice, ideally in hospital medicine, at the Associate or Full Professor rank is strongly preferred, but strong candidates from ambulatory or specialty backgrounds who have practiced as senior academic faculty will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching with institutional awards, completion of a graduate or professional certificate program, or significant institutional, regional or national leadership roles. Successful candidates will benefit from Penn's robust mentorship and faculty development programs and rich opportunities in quality/process improvement, informatics, medical education, and health care innovation.
