This position is responsible for managing and monitoring financial activities in the School of Medicine Dean's Office Units and Clinical Trials Cash Management Team which are part of the School of Medicine Finance and Business Operations Office. Primary responsibilities will include budget and expenditure reconciliation, financial reporting, financial analysis and consultation, as well as salary distribution management and other related duties. Fund types managed include grants, contracts, trusts, trials, gifts, Medical Foundation, overhead and state funds.
The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, budget variance analysis, organizing and planning commitments, communication with internal and external customers. This position serves and provides guidance to recognize long term projection and goals for SOM business leaders and FBO managers. The position is fully involved in the budget planning process and development of financial reports and billings. This position is responsible for meeting deadlines, auditing accounts to ensure agency compliance and for locating and analyzing all available funding resources to provide financial guidance to SOM business managers.
Entry-level with Masters; or Bachelors and 0-2 yrs experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Four year degree in accounting or finance. Experience with PeopleSoft.
Knowledge of funding program specifics and accounting principles and their application to cost, governmental accounting, and non-governmental accounting. Experience with post-award grant accounting, with the ability to identify substantive issues, and thoroughly and accurately research and analyze them in order to anticipate budgetary adjustments.
