Join a leading distribution company with a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This 2-4 month temporary role supports a large Accounts Payable (AP) team during a leave of absence and is an opportunity to bring your leadership, problem-solving, and process improvement skills to a dynamic organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of AP professionals, ensuring their training, development, and performance objectives are met. Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment with strong communication and guidance.
  • AP Process Oversight: Ensure the timely and accurate payment of supplier invoices to maximize discounts, avoid penalties, prevent credit holds, and optimize cash flow. Guarantee that all payments comply with internal controls and approval protocols.
  • Problem Solving & Collaboration: Serve as a hands-on manager, addressing team roadblocks and facilitating cross-functional solutions. Respond to vendor and internal customer inquiries, collaborating with other departments to resolve payment issues.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and streamline AP processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Identify opportunities for automation and optimization, implementing best practices to reduce manual efforts and errors.
  • ERP Management: Adapt to legacy ERP systems (AS400) and support the team's transition to Profit 21. Ensure smooth operation during the system migration and address team concerns effectively.
  • Administrative Oversight: Supervise weekly check runs and related administrative tasks, maintaining accuracy and compliance. Ensure AP procedures and controls remain up to date and effective.
  • Reporting & Closing: Oversee monthly and yearly closing processes for the AP department, ensuring all data is accurate and timely.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as an AP Manager, with a proven track record of leading large teams and improving processes.
  • Experience in large companies ($500M+ revenue), ideally in distribution, manufacturing, or similar industries.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and support a team.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs) and familiarity with inventory processes.
  • High-volume AP environments
  • Implementing best practices and process automation.
