Meta seeks an Associate General Counsel who is interested in technology and its potential for positively impacting peoples' lives to join as a product counsel on Meta's Content, Safety, and Integrity Legal team. This role will focus on supporting product and policy work related to the company's integrity priorities. It will require significant cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, as well as other legal subject matter experts. This is an opportunity to work on novel issues in an exciting environment, as we build and scale for our global community. This role can be based in several US locations.
Associate General Counsel, Product Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary legal partner for several product and policy teams working on integrity and safety issues for several priority product areas, such as Generative AI.
- Lead consensus building across legal and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, intermediary liability, consumer protection, security, and other global legal frameworks.
- Review global products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with public policy, communications, product management, engineering, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product development and launches.
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
- Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)
- 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
- Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills
- Effective communication skills
- Experience with product or regulatory counseling related to areas of law such as consumer protection, privacy, data security, and intellectual property law
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior in-house experience at a technology company
- Experience in a product counseling role building and supporting products
- Experience with integrity, trust and safety, or other related areas
- Experience working with AI products
- Privacy experience, including with international data protection frameworks such as GDPR
- Experience with global regulatory compliance work in a similar role

$198,000/year to $266,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
