The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Provider Network Solutions (PNS) will be a strategic leader in collaborations with the VP of PNS, will assist in developing and executing a comprehensive strategy and roadmap that enhances provider network efficiency, operational effectiveness, and supports sustainable growth. In partnership with the Vice President (VP) of PNS, the AVP will lead the alignment of business objectives across the division, working closely with cross-functional leaders to ensure strategies are aligned with the organization's overall mission and vision. This role will require a strong ability to communicate effectively and motivate teams, while contributing to the long-term growth and direction of both the Provider Network Solutions division and the broader BCBSKS organization.

A key component of this role will be external relations. The AVP will represent the organization at professional forums, industry conferences, seminars, and partnering meetings. In these settings, the AVP will deliver clear and impactful messages that promote the company's initiatives, strengthen its brand, and build strategic partnerships that drive organizational success as well as building sustainable relationships with in-network Providers and Health Systems.

** This position is eligible to work hybrid (9 or more days a month onsite) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

What you'll do
  • Collaborate with the VP of Provider Network Solutions to define and execute the long-term strategic vision for the organization.
  • Anticipate complex issues and opportunities that may arise within the provider network space, ensuring that strategies remain responsive to the evolving healthcare landscape.
  • Communicate the strategy effectively within the organization, linking it to the company's mission, vision, and values, and clarifying the actions needed to implement it.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies that drive growth, enhance provider network performance, and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Work closely with senior leaders across the organization to drive alignment and integration of PNS initiatives into broader organizational strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, ensuring that the organization's interests are represented and that key partnerships are developed and nurtured.
  • Foster a culture of adaptability, encouraging continuous learning and responsiveness to the evolving healthcare landscape.
  • Ensure that change management activities are aligned with the broader organizational strategy and are designed to drive tangible results.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate teams within the Provider Network Solutions division to achieve high levels of performance and alignment with the organization's goals.
  • Ensure that all team members understand how their work contributes to the broader organizational mission, providing clear guidance and support to achieve objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Must be accessible via text, voice and/or email, and be available to respond timeline during non-working hours as scheduled and needed.

What you need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in healthcare provider network management, operations, or strategy, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational initiatives from inception to execution.
  • Strong track record of successful stakeholder engagement and external representation in professional settings, provider/health system negotiations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, provider contracting, and market dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, financial management, and performance metrics in a healthcare context.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, provider contracting, and industry standards.
