Job Summary:
The position works under the supervision of the Sports Medicine Physician and the Head Athletic Trainer, and reports to the Director, Rehab Services. Provides athletic training services to student-athletes at designated athletic programs (colleges or high schools) and in accordance with the Georgia Practice Act. Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills in applying a detailed knowledge of the responsibilities, functions and structure of the department and of the larger institution. Works independently in organizing and prioritizing work, ensuring procedures, systems and orderly and timely flow of work through the office with the Athletic Director. Works independently in organizing and prioritizing sports medicine services at designated school(s). Makes decisions within prescribed limits of authority, in the absence of the Director, Rehab Services.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
ATHLETIC TRAINER ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provides evaluation of athletic injuries to high school /or college athletes, preventive and supportive taping of athletes and instructs taping techniques.
- Educates athletes, coaches, and parents about preventing injuries and appropriate treatment for injuries and illnesses.
- Coordinates scheduling for radiologic studies, patient clinic appointments, lectures to outside groups (Georgia Athletic Trainers, HOSA Classes) and visits to local athletic directors and/or coaches.
- Provides athletic training coverage for assigned school(s) with schedule to be determined. 50% FIRST IMPRESSION
- Smiles and makes eye contact with patients and customers using AIDET.
- Conveys enthusiasm and sincerity through positive verbal communication, facial expression, and body language.
- Presents a professional appearance through adherence to dress code and personal hygiene. 10% COURTESY
- Always addresses patient by their name and is warm and friendly.
- Refrains from loud laughing and inappropriate conversation.
- Provides proper identification in personal and telephone communication. 10% PROMPTNESS
- Attends to patient and customer needs in a timely manner as prescribed by department policy.
- Demonstrates time management skills and seeks to improve timely service.
- Provides services to patients and customers on time apologizing for any delays, provides appropriate explanation and seeks to re-establish new expectations with customer.
- Answers telephone within three rings in a courteous manner as prescribed by department policy. 10% RESPECT FOR DIGNITY
- Explains procedures to patients/family/S.O. in easy to understand terms.
- Respects the patient's right to privacy by only discussing clinically relevant information in appropriate surrounding. (Patient's Bill of Rights).
- Shares information, work knowledge, and/or experience with co-workers, physicians, and students in a non-threatening manner. 10% ATTENTION TO INDIVIDUAL NEEDS

Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree Athletic Training or similar degree from an accredited college Required or
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
