ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY : This position is responsible for handling the mixed drinks and beverages for events. Duties involve working behind the bar, serving guest a professional manner and in compliance with company policies, and legal considerations. Other responsibilities are to prepare the bar for an event and break down after.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO:

  • Sets up and breaks down all necessary items for bar service: liquor, beer, wine, mixers, napkins, straws, glassware and other accessories.
  • Provides beverage service to guests in a professional and courteous manner consistent with company standards and state laws
  • Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Locks up and stores all beverages, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank
  • Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Prepares for future events by counting and pulling inventory
  • Relieves other employees allowing for breaks during the shift.
  • Takes the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
  • Conduct yourself in an honest, conscientious, and courteous manner at all times, showing respect for persons of all backgrounds, races, genders, interests, and abilities.
  • Develop individual respect for everyone, respect for personal and the University as a whole.
  • Understand food health and safety regulations to ensure safety of guests.
  • Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule which may include weekends/evenings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to variety of situations.
  • Ability to be resourceful and to take initiative.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-ethnic environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules; open to new ideas and adaptable to changing technology.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid CA driver's license and insurance
ABOUT US : As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.

The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications.
