RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Battery Test Engineer in Cupertino, CA.Battery Performance Testing Description:This position is in the Battery Qualification Testing Team. It will be responsible for electrical testing, mechanical testing, and electro-chemical characterization of Lithium batteries within the test labs. The position will work closely with other teams (i.e., Cell/Pack Design, Equipment Design, and Lab Execution) to develop and implement any electrical tests and test procedures to characterize battery performance. The Battery Test Engineer will be responsible for all facets of the battery testing including development and scheduling of electrical tests, data collection and procedure documentation, interpretation and communication of test results, and maintenance and calibration of all test equipment and meters.Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement test protocols to measure and characterize cell properties and electro-chemical performance
  • Develop and implement process flows for the effective implementation of the protocols
  • Develop, implement, and document validation methods to ensure the integrity of the lab data
  • Review new test requests and monitor ongoing tests
  • As a Battery Test Engineer, you will collect and analyze test data, write-up reports as necessary
  • Collaborate with team on necessary deviations in test, document any procedure changes
  • Communicate results, sample, and/or test issues to engineering team
  • Refine/update test procedures and documents
  • Coordinate the acquisition or in-house design and manufacture of small tools for lab use
  • Determine need for and schedule routine maintenance of test equipment and meters
  • Train and mentor technicians in the operation and upkeep of test equipment and tools
  • Provide weekend support to technician team


REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of battery testing experience
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical testing of various battery technologies
  • Understanding of test requirements and ability to convert into test protocols
  • Ability to interpret battery test results and communicate to team
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot all testing equipment and tools
  • Experience with battery cycle life testing using Maccor, Gamry and Novonix testers is a plus
  • Experience with data management tools and statistical analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to function and interact in a multilevel team environment
  • Strong time management skills


The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
