Responsible for developing, fostering and maintaining employers, workforce, and community linkages that promote the Center, its mission, activities, student accomplishments and successes. Develops innovative partnerships and uses proper judgment and discretion when communicating with the media, public and community organizations. Responds to Company and DOL requests in a timely and professional manner.

  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
  • Partners with state and local workforce officials to implement the requirements of the WIOA and ensures coordination between the Center and State and Local Workforce Development Boards, Chambers of Commerce, WorkOne Career Centers and Youth Councils.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for Indiana's State and Regional Workforce Development Boards.
  • Establishes and maintains meaningful relationships with federal, state, and local elected officials.
  • Manages and supervises the Center's public relations functions. Publicizes and coordinates major Center activities and accomplishments to enhance the image of the Center including coordinating Center tours, making presentations about the Job Corps program and drafting press releases.
  • Directs the Center's Business Engagement Team, consisting of the WBL/CTR Specialists, CTT Instructors, NTC partners, SGA/Life Skills Specialists and OA/CTS staff. The mission of the BET is to identify OA referrals, expanded training opportunities, Work Based Learning and job placement opportunities.
  • Oversees and manages the completion of outreach activities identified in the Atterbury/Indy Outreach Plan and the Atterbury/Indy Strategic Action Plan. Participates in regional Business Engagement Initiative activities.
  • Develops Center-beneficial linkages and partnerships within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training and WBL including hosting and coordinating the quarterly Community Relations Council.
  • Participates in job development activities which lead to student success.
  • Works with Center's Industry Council to align the Center's education and training with local workforce demands and to ensure students receive industry-relevant training.
  • Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
  • Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
  • Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  • Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
  • Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.
  • Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
  • Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected.
  • Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
  • Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited school preferred. A minimum of three years' experience in community/public relations and working knowledge of youth-related community agencies and issues.
