Personnel in the CAD Technician position assist Engineer in preparation of Structural Engineering drawing plans and details for projects, presentations, and reports. CAD technicians use sound independent judgment in carrying out responsibilities and takes initiative to handle routine and semi-routine matters.
What You Will Do:
- Responsible for preparing drawings and sketches at the direction of the Project Manager or other engineering staff.
- Prepare graphics of a technical nature for use in presentations at the direction of the Project Manager or other office staff.
- Prepare spreadsheets and other technical documents to assist engineers in the preparation of engineering calculations.
- Prepare final report figures through the use of desk-top mapping and drawing software and is responsible for final formatting of project report figures and tables.
- Responsible for demonstrating a commitment to Total Quality and the process of continuous improvement, identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the need of customers and be open and responsive to change.
What You Will Need: Education and Experience
- 2-year associate degree or 1-year certificate program in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD).
- 7 years minimum experience using AutoCAD and Revit from Version 2019 to 2024 in drawing preparation of various concrete, masonry, steel and wood construction efficiently.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced skills in office automation software (including AutoCAD, Revit from Versions 2019 to 2024, Microsoft Excel, word processing, presentation, mail/calendar/scheduler programs, and desk-top mapping software). Ability to learn additional programs as required.
- Ability to analyze design sketches and specifications to create technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure drawings are accurate per engineers' design and specifications and has excellent problem-solving skills to create accurate drawings that meet office standards.
- Communication, interpersonal and time management skills are also essential to enable working on multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Knowledge of engineering practices and office standards.
Salary: $82-100k Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Principal, Manager or Director level position.
