Job Summary

  • Assists in the conduct of clinical research studies or trials following established protocols and standard operating procedures; prepares and organizes space; sets up study-related equipment and supplies.
  • Sets up and monitors various research study protocols, such as data collection efforts.
  • Assists with routine data collection to support clinical research (such as documenting vital signs, performing phlebotomy, etc.).
  • Schedules/calls subjects for appointments as directed; obtains screening information via phone or in person from script template for minimal risk studies; records and maintains screening/enrollment/master subject logs.
  • Ensures proper recording and archival of all regulatory documents, including informed consent forms for submission to regulatory agencies; files all appropriate correspondence
  • Provides other various support for clinical research efforts (makes copies, prepares transmittal sheets for mailings, sends out various resources/information).

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 1 year of patient-related or clinical research experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Preferred
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program
SKILLS
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in direct and in-direct patient related activities
  • In-depth knowledge of standard operating procedures and various testing techniques
  • Familiarity with automated and non-automated testing equipment
  • Proficiency at computer data entry/retrieval
  • Ability to work independently and perform concurrent tasks

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Research Coordinator, the Clinical Research Assistant will assist with the routine day to day conduct of two outpatient medication clinical trials. The incumbent will be responsible for obtaining screening information via phone, scheduling and contacting participants for appointments, routine data collection, documenting alcohol and substance use, medication compliance(using encrypted video technology), urine toxicology screens, breathalyzer results, and vital signs. In addition, the CRA will ensure proper recording and archiving of regulatory documents and participant binders, as well as provide other lab support for clinical research efforts, including sending out medication to participants, making copies, and ordering lab supplies.
