As a CMF/Color Developer supporting the CMF team, you will play a critical role in the development of CMF across YETI Gear & Equipment products. As a part of this specialized team, you will pre-screen initial color samples in close collaboration with the CMF Lead and will work with external suppliers to ensure successful Color implementation.

You hold the highest standards for quality and attention to detail, have a keen eye for color, build strong relationships with cross-functional team members and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. You have demonstrated knowledge of color, materials, and manufacturing processes, solid comprehension of CMF design and proven ability to proactively problem solve to meet CMF intent. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience, an eye for color, gloss, texture, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the CMF design team through CMF development and implementations of CMF specifications for products across hardgoods and softgoods.
  • Conduct timely visual (light box) and digital (spectrophotometer) review of all color submits with detailed articulation and documentation of appropriate refinement comments and final approvals (to be coordinated with CMF Design Lead)
  • Responsible for color standard ordering, tracking, cataloging, and dispatching to suppliers.
  • Request hardgoods material submits (paint, resin, metal) and textile lab-dips, and communicate with suppliers throughout the development process
  • Support CMF Design & Project Management teams in management and organization of samples and material submits
  • Support Validation Engineers in troubleshooting color match issues in production
  • Support CMF Design & Product Development in BOM and Color Visual population process
  • Maintain and improve the color development standards, tolerances, and processes at YETI, as related to unique material substrates, productions methods and supplier specifications.
  • Collaborate with Marketing / Content teams to ensure color launch campaign and site assets are color accurate.
  • Manage hard goods material submits and textile lab dips, tracking comments and approvals, and managing PLM/Centric documentation to ensure accurate color execution and quality throughout product life cycle and supply chain.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure commercial viability and appropriate timelines.
  • Coordinate collaboration meetings with Food and Beverage & Softgoods Color Leads on key seasonal and color alignment initiatives highlighting proposed matches and calling out key feasibility concerns.
  • Some international travel required.

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • BA or BS Degree in Color/CMF, Industrial Design, Product Design, or the equivalent in professional experience
  • At least 4 years professional experience in CMF development or design in the consumer-goods space. (hardgoods or softgood experience; both a plus).
  • Demonstrate high color acuity and ability to pass the Munsell Hue Color Test with a superior score
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate CMF concepts and manufacturing process to cross-functional teams at all levels
  • Keen eye for detail and precision, with a passion for innovative and future focused CMF applications and emerging design technologies
  • Keep current with CMF trends; while supporting CMF innovation
  • Ability to meet deliverables, based on milestones and deadlines
  • Consistently deliver high-quality work in an expedient manner
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to self-manage, and anticipation of department needs
  • Understanding of and experience in the CMF / color development process, and manufacturing processes across hard goods (plastic injection molding processes, resin development, plastic decoration processes) and softgoods (textiles and fabrics)
  • Spectrophotometer experience using Xrite or Datacolor platform
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience
