Posting Summary:Assist in, coordinate, and implement community-based outreach initiatives, services, and programs that contribute to health equity for migrant workers and their family members within assigned region. Improve quality of life at an individual, household and population level by serving as a liaison, cultural broker, educator, advocate, navigator, and interpreter between individuals and community-based organizations to promote health, reduce disparities, and improve service delivery. Coordinate clinical outreach efforts and collaborate with local health and social service organizations to assist them in enhancing services and addressing systemic barriers to health and social services.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):Education and experience equivalent to bachelor's degree in a social sciences or humanities one year of related and experience. Applicant must be bilingual in English and Spanish and possess a strong understanding of the community to be served either because of prior work, relationship in/to the community and/or other life experience. Cultural agility required. Ability to effectively and independently plan, organize, and coordinate access to health services. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to work and empathize with diverse audiences. Skills to cope with stresses associated with illnesses, disability, crisis, and at times death as work occurs directly and on a regular basis with persons who are or may become ill. Leadership skills and ability to use judgment in prioritizing and responding to competing work demands. Proficient computer, multimedia, and social media skills are essential. Willingness to travel and work a flexible schedule which at times will include evenings and weekends.
Desirable Qualifications:Experience with im/migrant families and/or disadvantaged populations. Professional or personal familiarity with navigating health care access in Vermont.
Anticipated Pay Range:$23.60- $26.60
Other Information:Within year of hire must successfully complete required medical interpretation training.
This position currently has funding through September 2025. The position may possibly be extended but is contingent upon funding.
This position is expected to work out of the S Burlington or Berlin Extension Field Offices. Employees may have the option to split work time between the Extension Field Office, but field work will be required.
Position located in different city, Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required, Contingent on continued funding, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Travel to and from worksites required, Background Check required for this position
