Computational Toxicology Postdoc - Regulatory Science

Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories PSS is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with Computational Toxicology in Richmond, VA.

The selected candidate will use his/her scientific and technical expertise to design and apply computational toxicology principles and tools for in vitro-to-in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE), focusing
on respiratory tract dosimetry and related health effect.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Critically review publicly available information on the application of Tox21 principles to product health risk assessment by leading scientific bodies and industries (pharmaceutical, tobacco companies)
  • Explore available IVIVE modeling platforms for fit-for-purpose model application for tobacco and novel nicotine products
  • Work closely with other preclinical and modeling teams and external consultants to establish IVIVE modeling capability in support of product development and quantitative risk assessment
  • Support other BSI toxicologists in designing and managing preclinical (in vitro; in vivo) studies and utilize the data in development and validation of IVIVE models.
  • Communicate complex computational approaches and methodology to non-computational scientists and stakeholders
Basic Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. (doctoral degree from an accredited university) in related scientific field, such as Toxicology, Computational Biology, or related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, selfmotivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to scout and learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, and comply with company
  • policies
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), attention to detail and discipline to publish
  • Hands-on experience in computational (PBPK, IVIVE) modeling is highly desirable
  • Experience with inhalation (OECD, mechanistic) data from tobacco/nicotine-related products is a plus
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction (H1B sponsorship is possible)
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Richmond, VA are encouraged to apply.
