Role and responsibilities
Reports to: GOES Manager and dotted line reporting to Regional Operations
Summary
Regional GOES Specialists are responsible for supporting the implementation, sustainment and improvement of the Graymont Operational Excellence System (GOES) at the plants. Their duties include providing training and coaching to plant staff, participating in plant continuous improvement activities and, executing the audit program.
Key responsibilities
• Active member of the Graymont Operational Excellence Community (formerly IOP core team)
• Attend monthly and quarterly meetings.
• Execute and drive the GOES audit program.
Support regional Ops directors with:
• Organization of the Regional Business Reviews
• L2 Weekly Business Reviews
KPI identification and L2 dashboard development
• Report gaps and difficulties related to management practices and the application of GOES standards and tools.
• Coordinates the execution and the follow-up of continuous improvement activities within the organization.
• Lead the GOES implementation in plants:
• Ensure key components, standards and tools are implemented according to a defined schedule.
• Provide training and coaching to plant staff.
• Provide support to plants in the execution and sustainment of the GOES (Operations standards and tools):
• Conduct monthly plant visits:
Observe the execution of the daily management methodologies:
• Operating Rhythm tools
• Escalation process
• Floor rounds (Gemba) and inspections
• Provide immediate feedback to the tool leader(s) after the activity
• Identify action plans with plant managers when gaps are observed.
• Follow up on previous visit action plans.
• Update plant management with the latest review of the GOES components.
• Provide or coordinate required training for new tools and for new personnel in their roles
• Lead or support plant managers in conducting annual strategic planning exercises and KPI identification with Front-line employees and plant management teams.
Provide support to plants in problem solving processes:
• Facilitate and/or support plant champions in conducting problem-solving workshops.
• Safety Alerts, Root Cause Analysis requirements, improvement exercises
• Ensure completion of PDCA cycles.
• Train plant champions.
