Use your culinary skills to serve individuals in the Eastern Massachusetts community on the road to recovery from addiction!

Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Cook at the Dorchester Family Center, a program within Behavioral Health Network!

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Family Center with the following:

  • Adhering to kitchen compliance standards set by the Department of Public Health.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary food preparation environment.
  • Ordering food, planning menus, and preparing nutritious and healthy meals for the individuals served using clear and appropriate communication to all parties.
  • Transporting food to other sites, as needed.
  • Maintaining their ServSafe certification.
  • Learning how to work independently, manage a food budget, do menu planning, and maintain a kitchen to DPH standards and regulations.


Who are we?

The Dorchester Family Center provides long-term residential family substance use treatment for women and their children of all ages, from newborns to teens. The diverse experienced team at the Dorchester Family Center provides a variety of services including individual and group counseling, therapy and psycho-educational groups, individualized treatments plans, and medical and mental health referrals, among others. Our goal is to provide a safe and sober living environment to allow successful family reunification and long-term family stabilization.

Behavioral Health Network is a growing non-profit community behavioral health agency that has been providing services to children, adults, families and communities in Western Massachusetts since 1938. BHN provides comprehensive, outcome-driven behavioral health care. We are dedicated to offering high quality, affordable and culturally appropriate care to people of all ages and income levels in our constituent communities.

What are we looking for in a Cook?
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (required).
  • Food preparation experience in a program (preferred).
  • ServSafe certification (preferred).
  • Valid Driver's License (preferred).
  • Vehicle for use during all working hours should be registered and inspected in accordance with 540 CMR 4.00 (preferred).
  • Commitment to client empowerment and growth, human rights, and community integration.
  • Familiarity with internet, word processing and email systems (required).
  • Location: Hyde Park, MA
