Job Description Summary
This analyst will work in the Center for Biomedical Image Computing and Analytics (https://www.cbica.upenn.edu, CBICA), under the guidance of investigator Dr. Spyridon Bakas. The work involves interaction with clinical and computational experts, as well as testing, validation, and extension of advanced image analysis and image processing (machine learning) algorithms for medical imaging (incl. digitized tissue sections and magnetic resonance imaging). This position offers the opportunity to gain experience using advanced computational image analysis and processing techniques and to apply these methods in the study of COVID-19 and cancer.
Job Description
The work involves interaction with clinical and computational experts in the department and school, following coordination by Dr Bakas, ensuring appropriate understanding of the problems at hand. The work further involves assessing, testing, validating, and extending advanced image analysis and image processing (machine learning) algorithms, preparing and extending processing pipelines, and applying these pipelines on digitized whole slide images of tissue sections, as well as on magnetic resonance imaging datasets from various studies and anatomical sites. The data analyst will collect and organize final quantitative, qualitative, and imaging results, perform quality control on the results, and communicate with clinical collaborators for the dissemination and discussion of the results. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience using advanced computational image analysis and processing techniques and to apply these methods in the study of COVID-19 and cancer.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience with image analysis and deep learning is required.
Experience with analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and digitized tissue sections is strongly preferred.
Strong computer skills (knowledge of Python and/or Matlab, statistical analysis packages, basic shell scripting, experience in Unix platform) will be preferred.
