About the Role:

Kitsap Credit Union is searching for a Director of Strategic Planning to lead the development and execution of the enterprise program design and delivery strategy out of our corporate Harborside office in Bremerton, WA. This person leverages a deep functional and operational knowledge of an enterprise to lead the design and implementation of new, and/or the optimization of existing programs, projects, initiatives, and services. This position provides leadership for the evaluation and continuous improvement impacting the enterprise with a strong focus to ensure programs and projects deliver value to Kitsap Credit Union. This role will be responsible for the overall strategic translation and implementation of KCU's Strategic Plan.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of best practices within the Strategic Planning Office for the purpose of achieving business goals and to support the smooth running of programs and projects.
  • Oversee the work effectiveness and efficiency of project managers and their project teams to ensure project management best practices are used during project initiative, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure stages.
  • Lead internal assessment of potential projects for Strategic Planning Office. Owns the Direct analysis of financial and plan design for new projects and results from programs and projects. Work with key internal business owners to build the business case for program investments to produce value.
  • Facilitate strategy development, translation, and implementation in furtherance of KCU strategic plan around growth and operational excellence. The level of engagement will include CEO, SVP, and VP and KCU Board.
  • Work with senior-level executives and KCU management levels to effectively manage and monitor KCU internal programs and projects and identify opportunities to ensure successful and timely implementation/execution.
  • Ensure that timely and accurate communications are produced providing leadership, direction and effective monitoring of performance of and services. Able to conduct quarterly Board presentations of activities, progress, and mitigation of programs and projects.
  • Understand and implement effective resource planning mechanisms for managing programs and projects effectively and within budget.
  • Manage financial objectives by analyzing and forecasting project budget; prepare project budget, schedule expenditures, confirm accuracy of invoices, analyze any variances and initiate corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of standards, policies and processes and create productivity measures, metrics, tracking and reporting to assess overall success.
  • Function as a change leader within and across business units and functions to ensure the success of programs and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with the various federal and state regulations that relate to areas of responsibility and coordinate with departments and credit union personnel.

    Required Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate in the English language.
    • Excellent project management, effective leadership and negotiation skills.
    • Eight plus years' experience in continuous improvement utilizing systems such as: Business Process Management, Agile project management and/or scrum environment.
    • Five plus years' experience with project management software such as Trello, Monday.com, ProofHub or Smartsheets.
    • Five plus years' experience leading high-impact, cross-functional project teams, preferably in financial services organizations.
    • Eight years of functional experience in the relevant business or functional areas.
    • Eight years of experience in operations management, project management, technology implementation, and/or internal controls development.
    • Recent experience leading continuous improvement projects and teams.
    • Ability to present a professional image when dealing with management and staff and outside contacts.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving.
    • High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Understand, model, and represent KCU's core values.

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Certification in project management and/or business process optimization is required within the first 18 months of hire.
    • Minimum of eight years' related experience in continuous improvement, operations management, project management, technology implementation and/or internal controls development.
    • Previous financial institution experience.

      Salary Range: $106,139.40 to $150,000 depending on experience

      Bonus Target: 12% potential incentive of base pay
