This is what you will do:

The Director, Thought Leader Liaison, US Hematology and Nephrology BU is a field based leadership position within the US Commercial organization that focuses on achieving the Hematology and Nephrology TLL strategic plan that includes commercial KOL engagement, promotional speaker training and development, supporting execution of promotional patient programs, and professional society engagement planning. The position reports to the Vice President, Business Unit Leader Leader Hematology & Nephrology and is a key member of the US Hematology and Nephrology Leadership Team. The geography will cover Northern Cal, Southern Cal, Mountain West, Southwest, South Texas, Chicago, and Central. Preference is for candidate to sit in the West or Central.

You will be responsible for:

Leadership

  • Hire, develop and lead a high-performing TLL team in achieving key objectives, including:
    • Promotional physician speaker identification, development, and management
    • Physician on-label interactions
    • Insight gathering to inform brand strategy
    • Congress/Professional Society strategy and engagement
    • Key Opinion Leader strategy and engagement
  • Drive strong collaboration and partnership with commercial leadership team, including Executive/Regional Sales Directors, Marketing, and other cross-functional partners to effectively execute overall commercial plan
  • Partner with RSDs to identify regional opportunities to achieve shared education goals
  • Partner compliantly with MSLs and medical leadership when engaging top key opinion leaders
Strategy & Execution
  • Member of US Hematology-Nephrology leadership team responsible for building strategic and tactical plans
  • Co-build TLL national business plan and support developing regional business plans
  • Lead the identification, segmentation, and engagement of key Hematology and Nephrology commercial thought leaders
  • Partner with Marketing to advise on development and implementation of speaker educational programs, including nomination and training of commercial speakers.
  • Partner with Marketing to plan and execute targeted insight gathering
  • Provide leadership on TLL management/strategy at regional and national Congresses

You will need to have:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 plus years' work experience in life sciences including people management and leadership experience and/or proven initiative and success developing toward people management (Ex: formal leadership training, demonstrated project/experience in motivational leadership, elevating knowledge and performance of others).
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and an ability to thrive in a cross-functional team setting with high emotional intelligence
  • Experience in field sales leadership and/or product marketing and marketing strategy
  • Proven ability to develop and deploy Thought Leader engagement strategies and tactics
  • Strong in-depth clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge in complex disease state with demonstrated learning agility.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully achieving results through effective collaboration and cross-functional partnership and alignment.
  • History of exhibiting the highest standards of ethics and integrity, and delivering on commitments
  • Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed targets and objectives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Travel requirements: Willing to travel >50% of the time including significant overnight and weekend travel
  • Must live within the assigned geography or within minimal distance to a major airport within assigned geography
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in a field environment. As is typical of a field-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work comfortably in a clinical setting; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
  • Graduate degree (MSc, PhD, MBA)
  • Prior experience and relationships within the Hematology and/or Nephrology therapeutic areas
  • Prior TLL and/or strategic KOL engagement and development experience in biopharmaceutical industry
