Role Description

The Director of Strategy and Operations is responsible for evaluating, operationalizing, and implementing strategic initiatives and operational programs to help achieve the business and people strategies for US Operations. He/she will be responsible for assessing opportunities for strategic fit, developing business cases, planning and executing critical projects to support the business, and leading change management efforts.

The Director of Strategy and Operations must partner across the organization and develop collaborative relationships. She/he will develop and socialize plans, secure leadership endorsement, and secure operational support and/or resources to achieve project objectives. He/she will be accountable for developing implementation plans, tracking milestones, and defining and tracking key performance indicators by program. In addition, the Director of Strategy and Operations will establish mechanisms to monitor the portfolio of projects across US Operations and facilitate prioritization discussions.

As a Leader in the Zoetis organization, the Director of US Strategy & Operations models Zoetis core beliefs and communicates the importance of conducting business in a manner consistent with Zoetis values and behaviors. She/he reports to the US Chief Operations Officer and manages a small team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Partner with business leaders to develop strategies to grow and/or protect our business, explore business model innovation, and respond to evolving market and competitive dynamics

• Lead operational improvement projects that cut across functions (i.e., transformation programs, process improvement, ways of working)

• Partner with HR and business leaders on operating model and governance design

• Conduct financial and strategic analyses on identified opportunities; analyze data and makes appropriate recommendations for action that supports improving initiative results and understanding longer-term business impact

• Lead the Project Management Office (PMO) that is ultimately accountable for prioritization, integration, execution and tracking of programs

• Partner with internal Business Development colleagues on select M&A, divestiture, and collaboration reviews; project manage integration and/or separation from US Ops business

• Manage a small team of 2-5 colleagues; accountable for professional development of the team

• Collaborate with colleagues in Finance, Marketing, Sales, Global Medical Affairs, Data and Digital Solutions, Commercial Operations, Zoetis Tech & Digital, Business Development, Legal and other functions to ensure that relevant stakeholders are participating in the decision-making and implementation processes.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• MBA and relevant experience preferred

• 12+ years of business experience with track record of assuming increasing responsibility.

• Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills with attention to detail

• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills

• Strong negotiation/persuasion skills; ability to interact with and influence Senior Management, peers and other functions with confidence and conviction.

• Proven team builder. Ability to work in a cross-functional team-based environment, align with and influence internal and external stakeholders, and build / manage relationships at all levels of an organization.

• Able to build clarity and structure around nebulous concepts

• Adept at working in highly fluid, complex, and ever-changing environment

• Strong project management skills and change management skills to drive complex, cross-functional projects that require input from many internal and external stakeholders

• Strong financial analysis skills and proven ability to manage budgets and expenses

• Strong computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn Zoetis/ systems)

• Ability to travel internal and external meetings, conventions, tradeshows, and customer interactions (< 20%)
