Position Description:
The Co-Op Business Analyst is expected to work on several internal and external software products for Holman. Co-Op Business Analyst will have an opportunity to gain valuable experience delivering world-class software to over 3000 clients with a truly global reach. Co-Op Business Analyst is expected to work closely with more experienced business analysts and project leaders on a regular basis, and will have an opportunity to learn while maintaining and delivering real world business software. Co-Op Business Analyst will regularly have their work reviewed by other, more experienced business analysts. Co-Op Business Analyst is expected to stay abreast of the best practices in Business Analysis as relevant to their work and apply them when possible. Essential Functions: • Works with business units to understand requirements for software development and delivery. • Learns and helps evolve Holman's development standards, bringing fresh perspective and ideas from the academic world into the commercial space. • Investigates, analyzes and documents reported defects. • Creates and maintains accurate and detailed requirements, scopes of work, functional specifications and associated documentation based on Holman project standards. • Helps to administer the change control process. • Determines the scope and interfaces to existing systems and maps out related requirements. • Acts as an interface between business units, technology teams and support teams and supports a collaborative environment. • Assists with user training. • Works directly with the project team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure delivery and implementation of the software solution. • Conducts post project interviews to determine lessons learned and provide recommendations for future improvements. • Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• A motivated self-starter that is able to work independently and in teams on tasks and projects with appropriate supervision. • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. • Provides regular updates on progress of assignments to users and management on all projects and cases assigned. • Proficiencies in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio are helpful, but not required. • Should be able to learn terminology and processes of business analysis and have the ability to translate business requirements into software requirements. • Should have the ability to understand technical designs and specifications. • Should have effective interviewing techniques to elicit business needs and requirements. • Solid analytical skills for effective problem solving and troubleshooting are required. • Solid ability to organize assignments and work efforts to meet schedules and deadlines is expected.
