JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood has an immediate requirement for an Engagement Lead to join our global Digital Advisory team, to be located in Houston, TX The successful candidate will join an assembly of global talent that is shaping successful digital and strategic transformation in a practical, tangible way.

We are looking for individuals who would get a kick out of working closely with clients and our best global business, who are digital and domain experts, possess outstanding stakeholder engagement and change management skills, and hold and nourish muti-tiered client relationships, to drive real tangible decarbonization and digital transformation outcomes for the energy security, energy transformation, materials and life science sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:

  • You will be the custodian of the customer vision and have Customer Success as your key driver.
  • Your close client relationships and knowledge of their typical pain points will allow you to play a direct role in actively and continuously positioning for, pursuing, and closing client value delivery opportunities. Proven business development and business growth skills will be key to this.
  • Your projects or engagements will typically span asset Capital Cost and Operating Cost phases, leveraging digital to drive client value through improved safety, production, maintenance, and emissions management.
  • You will typically lead a team of 4-8 business, digital and deep domain experts / advisors focusing on developing a clear understanding of the client problem, formulating an agile and inclusive execution approach, and rapid and sustained value delivery in asset management, digitalization, decarbonization, automation and organizational transformation.
  • Client project work will typically include gathering and analyzing information, formulating, and testing hypotheses, valuing and developing recommendations for presentation to senior client management and other key stakeholders at multiple levels. From there, you will implement those recommendations in close collaboration with client team members.
  • You will lead the day-to-day agile execution of a client project while guiding and developing individual team members, and actively and directly seeking opportunities to deliver more client value and grow the opportunity for Wood.
  • You'll work directly with clients and you'll take ownership of the overall project and its end products. You will make an important contribution to the analysis, design, and implementation of business performance approaches, developing tailor-made solutions and working closely with clients to ensure positive impact and sustainable results.
  • You will have the opportunity to build on your proven leadership skills and leverage your interest in inspiring others, building strong relationships, and creating a true followership. In a collaborative team setting, you'll work closely with others but also autonomously with little direction.
  • Your superior analytical, conceptual, business and design thinking skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills will ensure successful client projects and team performance.


QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

It takes a diverse range of people to achieve the level of impact Wood has on the global energy and materials sectors and the energy transition and decarbonization drivers therein. As a core member of the team you will demonstrate:
  • Engineering or related professional degree with consistent outstanding academic record; advanced degree and MBA is preferred
  • 20+ years of highly relevant experience in the energy, materials and decarbonization sectors preferably including 5+ years in a leadership role within the business
  • Previous advisory or consulting experience, including change management advisory and implementation, ideally in digital transformation, decarbonization, asset management, production optimization and automation advisory
  • Deep expertise in the energy and minerals industries as well as solid functional knowledge including but not limited to digital transformation, strategy, business development, energy, supply chain, project management, marketing and sales, etc.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment, including a strong focus on safe work behaviors and team well-being
  • Ability to take initiative, break new ground, create opportunities for others and take personal risks as seen through leadership roles in work environment and extracurricular activities
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Highly networked, with a demonstrated portfolio of key industry business relationships leading to business growth
  • Ability to leverage those industry relationships to directly develop and secure business for the team and pull-through business for adjacent teams
  • An expert communicator and collaborator, with a high degree of emotional intelligence and influencing skills
  • Advanced practitioner of Agile project delivery methodologies in an Advisory or Consultancy context.
