Job Purpose:

As the Engineering Manager at American Products, you will lead and manage the engineering team to drive technological advancements and efficiency within our manufacturing operations. Your role will focus on integrating emerging technologies, optimizing processes, and ensuring that our engineering practices contribute to the company's goals of innovation, productivity, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Engineering Team: Oversee the mechanical design department, guiding Mechanical Engineers to enhance design processes and workflows.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor performance metrics to drive accountability and efficiency within the engineering team.
  • Design Process Management: Develop and maintain consistency and structure in the engineering design process, including drawings, bills of materials, calculations, and testing procedures.
  • Engineering Processes: Create and execute engineering processes with a focus on end-user safety and efficiency.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with the engineering team, estimating, and sales departments to develop a new product roadmap, focusing on innovative products tailored to relevant markets.
  • Team Development: Mentor and support direct reports, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the engineering team.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and expertise to troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure optimal performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside customers, electrical engineers, and mechanical design engineers to deliver comprehensive engineering solutions.
  • Production Services: Lead initiatives in production services and programming, establishing and monitoring performance metrics to improve production efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in leadership roles within engineering teams.

Specialized Knowledge and Experience:
  • Experience with telecommunications enclosures is advantageous.
  • Experience in engineering and developing integrated enclosures is desired.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.

Travel:
  • Travel may be required to various American Products locations and customer sites as necessary.
