As an Environmental Compliance Manager, you will oversee the management and compliance of the project environmental program.

Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to:

  • Manage the Environmental and Permitting requirements for the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Project.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Contract Specifications, Government Approvals/Environmental Permits, and the Environmental Commitments for the Project.
  • Integrating with the construction and design teams during design preparation phase through to completion of the construction phase, to ensure project compliance with the environmental requirements.
  • Managing the production of environmental reviews and documentation or Government Approvals/Permits. Authoring supporting documentation for amendments to government approvals as needed.
  • Manage State and Federal Waters Permitting
  • Prepare and review notifications and supporting documentation for Contract changes
  • Analyze, manage, and mitigate environmental risks for the Project.
  • Supervise, develop, and manage an environmental staff to ensure the effective administration of the Project environmental permitting and compliance efforts.
  • Schedule and conduct Environmental Training Programs as required.
  • Coordinate and participate in intra-agency meetings relating to the environmental compliance aspects of the Project.
  • Manage the environmental inspection and audit program.
  • Coordinate and control the development and review of job hazard analysis for each phase of our work to ensure its safe completion. This includes assessing the need for and facilitating training as may be required.
  • Conduct investigations of environmental incidents and determining root causes and recommend corrective /preventive measures.
  • Carry out any other assigned tasks given by the Project ES&H Director.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Ecosystem Management, or Natural Resources & Conservation from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum five years' experience with environmental management and regulations that apply to large infrastructure projects, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Environmental Quality Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and Clean Water Act.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience conducting federal and state environmental impact assessments, wetland delineations, or threatened and endangered species surveys.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience preparing environmental plans such as wetland mitigation plans, threatened & endangered species mitigation plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), or Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure(SPCC) Plans; Environmental Quality Act documentation.
  • Must be able to work in varied physical environments which include both indoor and outdoor work in the hot and cold, as well as climbing ladders and stairs.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Endangered Species Act experience is strongly preferred.
  • Preparation of environmental permit applications for large projects.
  • Team player with a professional image, capable of handling highly confidential information.
  • Exercise excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment that may require long hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrate technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
