The HOP Extension Educator works under the direction of the District Program Specialist and HOP Assistant Extension Specialist, and immediate supervision of the HOP Program Coordinator. The scope of work for the HOP Extension Educator is 100% on the CDC HOP project. Responsibilities include working with community partners to address health disparities related to poor nutrition, physical activity, and obesity using policy, systems and environmental changes to promote food and nutrition security and safe and accessible physical activity in community and early care and education settings. The position's office location is the County Extension Office in the assigned county.The position covers Muskogee County. The position will be housed in County Extension Office in one of those counties.
Base annual salary for full-time, entry level educators who have a bachelor's degree is $42,000; a master's degree is $46,000. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience. Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain cellular or other electronic communication device.  The incumbent's salary includes compensation to apply toward the use of their personal cellular device.Extension educators hired with only a bachelor's degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master's degree.Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available county funding. Education & Experience Position Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's in Family & Consumer SciencesA bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, public health, or similar health-related field is required. Extension experience is desirable.For candidates without a degree in FCS, must be able to successfully obtain the noted certifications below within two years of employment: (certification expenses not covered by employer)No FCS or Education DegreeTake two approved education courses (Pedagogy & Classroom Management)Pass PPAT within two yearsPass FCS OSAT within two yearsNo FCS Degree, but an Education DegreePass FCS OSAT within two yearsProvide proof of passing PPATNo FCS Degree, but Alternatively Certified in FCS and three years teachingNo special requirements

Valid Drivers License. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.

*Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to foster a professional image of OCES by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally. *Demonstrated ability to adapt well to changing priorities, situations and day-to-day demands. *Demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively manage time and resources.*Commitment to continue personal professional development.*Evidence of ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with clientele, advisory groups, OHCE members, and other professionals, etc.*Demonstrated competency and effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology.*Demonstrated leadership ability in designing, promoting, presenting and evaluating educational programs and the desire to program to reach diverse audiences.

Preferred:

 * Master of Science degree in family and consumer sciences, health care administration, public health promotion, public health nutrition or closely related field.
* Experience with community-based participatory research.
* Experience using policy, systems and environmental approaches to improve health outcomes.
