Job Summary

As an external supplier auditor at BPMI, you will be responsible for planning and conducting financial audits at suppliers in support of BPMI procurements. You will be working with BPMI Procurement and Engineering teams, to perform a variety of financial audits. You may also be asked to lead teams in continuous improvement initiatives and in resolution of complex financial and accounting issues. You may also be asked to provide guidance and expertise on financial functions and complex accounting and financial controls across the company, as needed. You must be willing to travel domestically 25% to 50% of the time based on business needs. This role has the ability to work a hybrid schedule.

Essential Duties:

  • Complete and issue reports to enable management and other internal stakeholders to interpret, evaluate, and implement recommended supplier financial improvements. Support through providing accounting or financial advice, as needed.
  • Perform, coordinate, and utilize financial analyses during supplier external audits to identify problems and/or areas of improvement within BPMI's industrial base. Formulate and implement recommended actions to internal stakeholders.
  • With some management oversight, lead the preparation of responses to requests from internal customers, Government personnel, and auditors requiring cross-functional inputs, multiple stakeholder reviews and concurrences, and multiple interfacing with the recipients to ensure expectations are met.
  • Maintain knowledge with Bechtel, Department of Energy, and Department of Defense rules, regulations, and presentation requirements for accounting, financial planning and contract planning functions (include detailed knowledge of DOE Orders, FAR, DFAR, GAAP, CAS - as applicable to assigned responsibilities).
  • Employ Six Sigma Lean methodologies and cause mapping strategies to critically assess financial processes, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and implementing changes to strengthen process efficiency and effectiveness while mitigating/reducing risks.
  • Use knowledge and expertise to deliver training curriculum and training materials for use in training of all internal and external customers. Participate in the exchange of information and knowledge with others in the company to gain understanding from a broad business perspective. Ensure knowledge and expertise is documented. Contribute to the development of fellow employees by sharing knowledge across financial and business functional areas.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, or equivalent, or MBA, from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 years of relevant auditing experience.
  • Ten (10) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as Cost Accounting Standards.
• Ability to present audit issues to senior management in a clear, concise manner.
• Proficient in financial statement interpretation and analysis.
• Certified Public Accountant, Certified Forensic Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Fraud Examiner preferred.
• Previous experience performing external audits or public accounting preferred.
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Systems and cost accounting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment by multi-tasking while still providing significant attention to detail.
• Strong leadership skills and resourceful mentality.
