Shift/Hours

Must be available to work the follow schedule.

  • Monday-Friday 7-3:30pm.
  • Possibility for overtime.

Primary Role

To perform work under a team concept on the distribution system including new construction, customer services, meter installations and meter reading as assigned by supervisor. To make decisions within the guidelines established by supervisor necessary to carry out and complete work assignments. To make decisions within the guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

  • To perform work assigned by the supervisor.
  • To install, remove, and read meters.
  • To communicate with customers and other employees to satisfy customer requests and inquiries.
  • To inspect customers' facilities and obtain and record data. To perform locates of water mains, pits, and curb boxes.
  • To observe and report any abnormal conditions (unbilled account, dangerous meter tops, theft of service, etc.).
  • To communicate with contractors, providing information of American Water requirements and standards during service installation or reconfiguring.
  • To use a computer and mobile application software.
  • To flush hydrants, perform hydrant flow tests, and maintenance of hydrants. To turn valves and record correct locations for valve program.

Experience/Education

  • High school graduate or state recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check.

Work Environment

  • Must satisfactorily pass company's physical examination.
  • Must be able to perform such activities as walking, stooping, and lifting.
