The institute was founded as a joint venture of the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Humanities and Sciences. The proximity of world-class biologists, chemists, engineers, and clinicians at Stanford presents a unique opportunity to study human biology at a molecular level, to translate this knowledge into groundbreaking products and services that promote healthy living, and to educate a new cadre of "physician-scientist-engineers" who will lead a rapidly evolving industry. Administratively managed by Sarafan ChEM-H, the Stanford Innovative Medicines Accelerator (IMA) emerged out of Stanford's Long Range Vision, and seeks to accelerate the translation of Stanford research discoveries into new medicines while expanding our knowledge of human biology.Our VPDoR Diversity Journey:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Sarafan ChEM-H / Stanford IMA is seeking a Financial Analyst to join a complex organization which is dedicated to addressing a wide range of human health challenges. As a key member of the Finance Team, you will report directly to the Finance Manager. Our close-knit team manages the annual accounting cycle for a complex multi-million dollar consolidated budget and develops, implements, and oversees complex financial processes that support the organization's operations. The incumbent will function as a business partner to assigned scientific groups within the organization and must have a work approach that is service-centric and audience-adaptive, and must have the ability to handle pressure under tight deadlines. CORE DUTIES:
    Perform and design ad hoc analyses of large complex data sets: reconcile complex accounts. Identify and resolve complex issues which may span multiple areas.Construct and assemble data for budgeting and decision making; develop conclusions, and present a high level summary of recommendations. May develop an annual budget for teams assigned.Conduct analysis and resolution, and recognize exceptions. Participate in developing solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes; maintain broader organizational perspective in decision making.Execute internal control programs established by management, research new regulations, and recommend and implement approved changes. May manage compliance program for areas of responsibility, and create complex compliance reports.Develop reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for management and third parties.Participate as a member of a project team; support new initiatives. Make decisions determining approach to managing and completing processes.Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility.Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes, and identify opportunities for process improvement.Provide consulting advice to client group(s); serve as a resource on matters that require specific technical, financial, or subject matter expertise; support negotiations with external partners.May supervise, train, coach, and review the work of other staff, as needed. Contribute primarily through applying individual expertise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems; internet and computer literacy.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute to or lead part of a multi-functional team.Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with flexibility.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
    Some working knowledge of Smartsheets.Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Constantly sitting.Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork.Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry objects weighing 11-20 pounds.Rarely reach/work above shoulder.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Routine extended working hours during peak cycles; travel to school/unit sites across university.

For Hybrid positions:The expected pay range for this position is $111,640 to $112,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to geographic location, knowledge, skills and abilities, relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, performance; as well as other business and organization needs such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the minimum qualifications, departmental budget availability, and market and internal equity across the unit, department and reporting relationships.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
