Description Position ClassificationRegular, full-time, hourly, non-exempt and benefit-eligible staff position. For more benefit information visit Why Work at UCO? General SchedulePosition typically works 34 hours per week. Requires working varying shifts Monday through Friday ranging from 5:30am - 9pm. Occasional weekends. May be necessary to respond to occasional after-hour emergencies. Position OverviewPerform general maintenance and repair duties including light carpentry, basic electrical, HVAC, grounds maintenance, arranging furniture and partitions, and waste/recycling management. Assist employees with internal moves. Performs setups in order to accommodate the needs of customers while remaining in compliance with all University policies and procedures. Maintain waste/recycling receptacles. May work with outside contractors.
Job Duties

• Performs general maintenance duties for department which includes the Wellness Center, the UCO Boathouse at Arcadia Lake and the UCO Ropes Course.
• Performs up-keep of equipment including preventative maintenance duties and repair.
• Performs tile setting, drywall, painting, locks and hardware repairs.
• Performs general maintenance and repairs.
• Utilizes a basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems to determine and properly communicate scope of repairs needed.
• Performs routine plumbing maintenance.
• Moves furniture and other items as needed.
• Performs general clean up including removal of snow/ice from surfaces.
• Responsible for the upkeep of the gym floor.
• Assists with all department events including the UCO Endeavor Games.
• May oversee student staff during irregular hours of the day.
• Maintains documents for yearly inventory control.
• Performs landscaping tasks such as mowing and trimming trees.

Qualifications/Experience Required:Performs administrative or manual tasks. Requires general education or vocational training or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle. Qualifications/Experience Preferred: Two years of experience in general maintenance.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, depending upon project needs. Good base knowledge of all phases of maintenance and repair and the tools and techniques utilized for various projects. Knowledge of general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repair work. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work in areas with fumes or airborne particles and toxic and/or caustic chemicals, in and around moving mechanical parts of equipment. Sufficient dexterity and coordination to operate equipment common to the trade, especially sizzor lifts. Reads, understands manuals and instructions printed in English and documents legibly in same. Good oral and written communications are needed to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position. • Ability to walk regularly for long periods of time across the campus.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to use and reach with hands and arms regularly.
• Ability to climb in high places using a ladder or balance frequently.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and crawl occasionally.
• Ability to push or pull dolly loaded with up to 120 pounds for 300 feet occasionally.
• Must have close, distance, and peripheral vision.
• Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Pass PFT (pulmonary function test)
