To enable Energy Systems to achieve its strategic ambitions and become future fit, we need leaders who drive business operations to meet customers' expectations while also continuously improving the way we work. North America is therefore seeking the Head of Section Transmission and Distribution Compliance to lead teams offering utilities, generators and loads practical solutions to connecting to the transmission and distribution systems.

The Head of Section optimizes business operations and improve the long-term performance of the section. They work closely on commercial opportunities to strengthen and expand business, including driving the doer/seller culture. They direct service line activities and drives technical competence development within the section aligned with Energy Systems strategy.

The Head of Section has a strong focus on delivery and utilization, gains efficiency within the section. They partner with Key Account Managers (KAMs) and Market Account Managers (MAMs) in delivering an excellent customer experience while stimulating collaboration within their section as well across the organization. They must ensure that they have the right number of staff with the right capabilities and strives for a high performing collaborative culture and exceptional employee experience.

This role is based at our DNV office in Houston (TX), Oak Brook (IL), Chalfont (PA), Dallas (TX), Arlington (VA), Columbus (OH) or New York (NY), presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within US.

What You''ll Do

  • Ensures an efficient & consistent delivery of services in line with customer expectations
  • Leverages knowledge of North American energy and utilities market to produce new business and retain current clients
  • Creates new services to grow into new markets
  • Optimizes business performance through delivery management, cost-efficient business operations, improvement of the utilization rate and an aligned workforce plan

  • Supports the Head of Department in strategy and decision making

As required by the Pay Transparency laws in Colorado, New York City, California, Washington, and Connecticut, DNV provides a reasonable compensation range for roles that may be hired in those locations. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, New York City, NY, California, Washington, and Connecticut only, the range of starting pay for this role is $170,000 - $220,000.

What is Required
  • Bachelor's degree required, in a field related to power grids
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the power grid industry
  • Direct experience working at an ISO/Utility or on behalf of these entities as a consultant
  • Proven track record of growing a business, including at least 2 years of management and business planning experience
  • An excellent network of broad and diverse contacts within the North American utilities
  • Proven track record leading and developing diverse teams, with an emphasis on influencing and inspiring high performers
  • Proven track record in anticipating market trends and offering services to match utility needs
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time, including domestic and international
  • Ability to effectively present and discuss power grid modelling methodology and new power grid technology topics with a broad audience
  • Professionally handles difficult conversations with customers, for example addressing refinements to technical methodologies, scope and budget issues, or differences in technical opinions, while strengthening customer relationships
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to drive thought leadership in the industry
  • Willingness and ability to travel in North America up to 15% of the time, to conferences, customer meetings, and project sites (international travel a possibility, but lower likelihood)
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
