Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, supports team in all maintenance operations using the best maintenance practices, safety programs, good documentation practices and cGMP. Maintenance operations would include preventative maintenance, diagnosing problems, ordering parts, making repairs, and scheduling work as required.
In addition to performing required job duties, the following activities are included:
- Schedule preventive and corrective work orders with production and maintenance Team leader
- Execute preventive and corrective work orders.
- Manage spare parts inventory for site equipment.
- Lead improvements through equipment and process assessments
- Operate within maintenance operating budget.
- Assist Team Leader and EHS with safety and environmental programs.
Hours: 1st shift Monday - Friday, routinely 7:00am to 3:30pm, with some mandatory overtime and on-call rotations. Position Responsibilities- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance work orders for the following pieces of equipment.
- Air Handler Units
- Chillers
- Cooling Tower
- Refrigerator
- Freezers
- Ultralow Freezers
- Walk-in coolers
- Liquid Nitrogen Freezers
- Incubators
- Walk-in incubators
- Manage spare parts inventory for each piece of equipment listed above.
- Work as a team or individually to service refrigeration and ventilation equipment such as compressors, fan motors, variable speed drives and control panels
- Perform associated Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) paperwork such as work orders, maintenance task sheets, equipment logbooks, etc.
- Participate actively in each confine space entry as required in the site safety procedures to perform preventive and corrective maintenance work.
- Perform Monthly Fire Extinguisher inspections and set up external annual inspections.
- Assist HEPA filter certification techs in executing annual filter certifications.
- Perform all maintenance duties aligned with all safety and cGMP procedures.
- Demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
- Demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality.
- Learn and comply with company and regulatory requirements such as APHIS, State, IEPA, OSHA and Zoetis.
- Assist Team Leader in implementing the Maintenance Best Practices
- Coordinate with outside contractors, maintenance personnel, and production Team Leaders, the day-to-day management of maintenance work.
- Investigate the labor, parts, tools, and equipment needs for maintenance work orders and develop plans for their completion.
- Develop and implement predictive/preventive maintenance programs for equipment systems.
- Participate actively in the White Hall maintenance on-call program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader
Education and Experience
- Associate degree from an accredited technical/trade in HVAC and refrigeration.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance, diagnosing & troubleshooting, and correcting diverse HVAC and refrigeration system issues.
- Job grade entry level commensurate to prior experience
Technical Skills RequirementsMinimum qualifications include:
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal directions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and leadership.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively use basic math applications (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to document accurately and legibly using cGMP principles.
- Ability to visually identify minute flaws in quality (e.g., print, physical appearance, alignment, color variation)
- Ability to interpret blueprints and equipment schematics.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Must work in an industrial environment safely using approved procedures; i.e., Lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work permit, Asbestos containing materials, etc.
- Universal technician certification from (Environmental Protection Agency) EPA-approved certifying organization
- Competency in PC applications, preferably Excel, Word, and databases
- Be able to perform and document timely maintenance duties as dictated by the Site maintenance program.
- In-depth working knowledge & skills of refrigeration equipment, split systems, package units, electrical, HVAC & EMS systems
- Highly motivated with effective leadership skills
Physical Position Requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours with occasional overtime and on-call rotations.
- Ability to routinely lift 20-50 pounds.
- Constant periods of standing, bending, climbing, stooping required.
- May be exposed to temperature variations, prolonged standing, or walking.
- Ability to work after working hours, weekends and holidays as needed due to maintenance issues and/or on-call duty.
