TITLE: Inventory Control Specialist DEPARTMENT: Facilities   REPORTS TO: Director of Capital Planning & Facilities    CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time  EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt   JOB SUMMARY:   As an Inventory Specialist, you will play a key role in managing our inventory system and ensuring its accuracy. You will also work with other team members to improve our supply chain operations and meet our goals. To succeed in this role, you will need to have strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   Training less experienced inventory workers.Maintain and update inventory records and system to ensure accurate and timely inventory tracking.Work with cross-functional teams to forecast inventory needs and identify potential stock issues.Monitor inventory levels and identify potential stockouts or overstock situations.Manage inventory aging and coordinate proper rotation or disposal of obsolete inventory.Participate in regular inventory counts and coordinate physical inventory audits as needed.Collaborate with purchasing and departmental leadership to optimize procurement and transportation processes.Develop and implement SOPs for inventory management and continuously improve inventory operations.Developing loss mitigation processes and protocolsReview and analyze inventory data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work well in a team environmentExperience working with an ERP system, inventory management software, or similar toolsKnowledge of inventory principles, concepts, and proceduresAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detailExperience with computer inventory control programs  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY  This position does not have supervisory responsibility.   OTHER DUTIES:   Assigned as needed by supervisor  QUALIFICATIONS:   High school diploma or G.E.D.Minimum of 3 years' experience in the field.  Licensing and Certifications: NA   WORKING CONDITIONS:  Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during physical inventory countsMust navigate campus and be able to reach items high and low          Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. At this time, Kentucky State University is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa. Internal applicants encouraged to apply.   KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY is an Equal Opportunity Employer The functions, qualifications, knowledge/skills, and physical requirements listed in this job description represent the essential duties of the job, which the incumbent must be able to perform either with or without reasonable accommodation. The Job Functions listed do not necessarily include all activities that the individual may perform.
