One of our well-respected and family-oriented insurance defense clients is seeking an experienced insurance defense legal assistant. The right candidate will have insurance defense, nursing home defense or workers compensation experience and will be able to assist a team of attorneys navigate the legal process from inception of the case to finish. You will need to be able to handle general administrative duties as well as have knowledge of legal terminology and the legal process.
CANDIDATE MUST:
• Have the ability to handle heavy calendaring/scheduling of meetings, depositions, mediations, etc.
• Be able to handle general litigation support including digital transcription and attorney preparation for depositions, motion hearings, etc., opening, organizing, managing and closing files; and drafting correspondence.
• Have a working knowledge of the federal and Florida court rules and e-filing procedures
• Have knowledge of the Florida insurance defense process and statutes
• Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Be extremely organized and have professional verbal and written communication skills
• Have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and be flexible
• Have the desire to work in a team environment
REQUIREMENTS:
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Adobe
• 4+ years as a legal assistant
• Previous experience in medical malpractice or insurance defense
• Solid tenure and work history
