Major Responsibilities:
Operate string packaging and bulk packaging equipment including Doboy, Bag Sealers, Baaders, Rapid Paks, with a thorough knowledge of functional controls and machine adjustments.
Maintain acceptable production standards. Challenge standards for continuous improvement.
Perform packaging machine changeovers in an efficient manner, soliciting and directing assistance of packaging assemblers. Assemble and disassemble necessary parts,blades, knives, formers, etc.
Perform packaging film and code dater changes. (70# lbs. film rolls)
Perform weight checks every 30 minutes
Assist in troubleshooting and machine adjustments. Alert Maintenance to any equipment problems which will affect quality packaging efficiencies, employee morale, or safety and job difficulty.
Record accurate production data, including downtime, rejected materials, case counts, quality checks and machine logs.
Periodically inspect packages as they come out of the machine to maintain high quality standards. Maintain quality evaluation and Rapid Pak logs to ensure seal integrity, correct date specifications and correct packaging requirements. Perform seal checks every two hours.
Assist Assembler I position in packaging and running through breaks.
Direct and assist the efficient clean-up of packaging area and equipment.
Assist in training department personnel. Facilitate communication flow and assist in implementing production improvements.
Observe all safety rules, work rules and procedures.
Identify and record all defective packaging materials. Communicate damaged materials to the Supervisors.
Other duties as may be assigned due to short-term, unforeseen manufacturing changes or needs.

GMP's (good manufacturing practices) are mandated by the FDA and established in order to ensure food products are manufactured under sanitary conditions. All employees must be willing and able to comply with GMP's as outlined in the plant GMP policy.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); equivalent combination of education and experience. This position does not require a "Pasteurizer License".
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to work comfortably with mathematical figures such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Special Qualifications Required:
Ability to work in a coordinated and cooperative manner in a team setting with team goals.
Ability to read and understand production and packaging schedule and packaging verification reports.
Ability to work comfortably with mathematical figures. Must be able to use calculator accurately.
Mechanically inclined.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Adapts to interruptions, changes, disorder, repetition, without losing efficiency or composure.
Physically able to do medium to heavy work (20-70 lbs.lifting) in terms of lifting, with frequent stooping, squatting, reaching and handling.
Personnel with current experience in the position.
Visually inspect product for quality. Run checks every two hours and record on Rapid Pack Log.
Able to rotate between lines and positions practicing good ergonomics.
Feed and package cheese on String and Bulk package lines. Rotate between lines for good ergonomics.
Ability to work in a coordinated and cooperative manner in a team setting with team goals.
Ability to read and understand production and packaging schedule and packaging verification reports.
Ability to work comfortably with mathematical figures. (Addition, subtraction, multiply and divide)
Physically able to do medium to heavy work in terms of lifting, with frequent stooping, squatting, reaching, and handling 25-30# tubs of cheese/finished product.
Visually inspect product for quality defects.
Capable of working with little or no supervision.
Scope of Duties:
No supervisory responsibility.
