Summary:Coordinates and/or performs activities for the fire protection programs of multiple sites as assigned to ensure compliance with NFPA requirements and state and local codes. This includes inspection, service and maintenance of systems and equipment such as sprinkler, fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, kitchen and computer room fire suppression systems and fire alarm monitoring, monthly elevator testing, among others. Assists, coordinates and directs vendors performing these functions as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:• AAS in Fire Protection Technology or related field or High School diploma or equivalent & 1-3 relevant work experience is
required.
• Knowledge of New York State fire and building codes and NFPA standards preferred
• 1-3 years work experience involving fire alarm system, preferred
Key Responsibilities: Maintains an accurate inventory and documentation of all safety, including fire and life safety equipment.
• Coordinates and performs shutdown and restoration of fire protection and detection systems for repair or renovation.
• Performs limited trouble shooting, repairs and testing of fire and life safety equipment.
• Conducts fire drills at assigned sites.
• Conducts Environment of Care, life safety, Statement of Condition (SOC) and other inspections and surveys and follows up on corrective actions to ensure proper compliance.
• Coordinates all Fire Marshall, Fire Department and Insurance building inspections and tours. Tracks deficiencies and corrective action reports.
• May assist engineering, project managers and security with proper oversight of life and fire safety system installation, acceptance and testing.
• Assists in development and implementation of required plans for newly constructed facilities. This includes all training on new systems and staff education of procedures.
• Documents work and assists in maintaining Life Safety Management Plan and other necessary compliance records. Maintains all life safety documentation and records per regulatory requirements, including NFPA, Joint Commission, Dept. of Health, and local jurisdictions, among others.
• Investigates, evaluates and provides safe work practices for all hot work and penetration permits. In cooperation with facilities staff, issues permits and follows up on problems and performs final inspections.
• In coordination with Facilities and Construction staff, conducts ILSM (Interim Life Safety Measures) assessments, documentation, implementations, inspections and takes or coordinates necessary actions as required.
• Attends appropriate preconstruction design and on-going status meetings.
• Responds to fire alerts and other emergencies.
• Assists with OSHA and environmental compliance activities including but not limited to surveys, inspections and training. Assists with hazardous chemical storage, transport and disposal.
• Provides safety training to staff at assigned locations.
• Provides on-call coverage off hours, holidays and weekends as assigned.
• Assist the Hazardous Waste Coordinator with chemical waste disposal as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Wears and uses personal protective equipment as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE: $20.50 - $28.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
