Life Science Technician (50% FTE/ Mon-Fri)🔍School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United StatesNew📁Research📅3 days ago Post Date📅105014 Requisition #Schedule: 4 hours/day, Monday through FridayThe Sonnenburg Lab in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology is recruiting for a Life Science Technician (LST). The LST will mainly work in supporting sample management with our expanding human clinical trials. The LST will be required to prepare tubes for biospecimen collection (blood and stool), perform sample accounting, and aliquot biospecimens according to detailed protocols provided. In addition, the LST will provide a supporting role to the lab manager with preparing bacteria culture media, managing incoming lab supplies, and chemical waste management. Accurate and detailed record keeping are a vital part of this position. Ability to work collaboratively with researchers (PI, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and research staff) is essential. This is a part-time position (4 hours/day, Monday through Friday). This position is represented by SEIU Local 2007 and the collective bargaining agreement between the university and SEIU Local 2007 governs the terms and conditions of employment.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in wet lab work, ie pipetting and sterile technique, is desired but not required.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):One year's employment experience in laboratory work or a combination of equivalent education and relevant work experience/training (e.g., one year of college science).KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):Work requires the ability to follow detailed instructions and keep accurate records.
