JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team, of union Maintenance Technicians, at DuBois Chemical's manufacturing plant assuring the safety and success of the daily plant production.

DuBois' Maintenance Supervisor will own and effectively plan and manage projects, preventative and predicative maintenance of all production systems, plant equipment, contractors, and facility maintenance including the grounds.

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for a 1st and 2nd shift union maintenance crew and supports shift production schedules.

The selected candidate will perform maintenance services and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, machine/equipment servicing, welding, electrical, HVAC, Boiler, security, utilities, fire protection, pollution control, and grounds.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors breakdowns, determines needs, and assigns resources
  • Communicates with senior level leadership on issues that impact production
  • Reviews equipment to ensure all safety devices are properly installed
  • Ensures all company, state, and federal requirements are met by maintenance employees
  • Responsible for facility housekeeping and grounds maintenance (i.e. parking lot, administrative offices, etc.)
  • Maintains inventory of parts and equipment to meet approved levels
  • Responsible for managing plant maintenance including making personnel and equipment available for maintenance activities; reviewing design specifications and engineering drawings that involve a change in the existing facilities and coordinating with plant management
  • Coordinate maintenance work to be done, provide the necessary drawings, sketches, or photographs to perform the job and define personnel requirements, materials, tools and equipment
  • Investigate the work order requests communicating regularly with the originator, operations and maintenance supervision, and with engineering personnel as necessary
  • Work with technicians and management to decide whether jobs will be performed by company maintenance or outside contractors; review bids and ensure contractors meet DuBois standards and procedures
  • Monitors the execution of maintenance work in progress to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specific job requirements
  • Responsible for overall development and compliance of mechanical integrity including coordinating the inspection program
  • Work with Operations to define inspection intervals for process equipment and initiate systematic corrective action for deficiencies identified in the process
  • Coordinate, monitor, witness and evaluate the execution of testing and inspection activities as required by the Quality Assurance program
  • Plan, organize, schedule, and supervise maintenance activity for plant shutdowns and turnarounds which will ensure all maintenance activities progress as efficiently as possible
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Department in gathering pricing information on new materials and upgrades; assist in expediting delivery on critical materials and equipment
  • Maintain inspection data and adjust inspection and testing intervals as called for by the changes in the data
  • Keep in touch with the latest technology affecting materials and equipment in the plant
Requirements
  • 5+ years practical Maintenance experience will be substituted for education
  • 5+ years industrial leadership / supervisory experience, plus if in chemical manufacturing
  • Experience and knowledge of equipment including pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, instrumentation, motors, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of occupational hazards, safety, and EPA regulations
  • Prior experience working with Continuous Improvement work teams
  • Lean principles background is a plus
  • Build employee effectiveness

  • Be responsible for managing day-to-day operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate mathematical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • MS Excel proficiency to maintain and generate reports
  • Strong software skills that include MS Word, MS Power Point, D365, & Workday
  • Respirator Fit Testing (requires a clean shave (if applicable))
  • Willing to work variable shifts as needed with 24-Hour On-Call availability for emergency
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Relevant Certification preferred (i.e. PSM, PHA, OSHA, etc.)
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
