Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times, as well as:
• Troubleshoot electrical controls, PLC's, and variable frequency drives.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to plc's, power supplies, drives, gages, and test equipment.
• Run electrical conduit, water, and gas. • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
• Install, start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
• Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production in a timely manner.
• Plan, layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Operate welding equipment and cutting torch to cut or join metal parts.
• Set up and operate machine tools such as a lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, dies, and fixtures.
