Job Purpose
This entry level position will include a dedicated training period with oversight from experienced mechanics and engineers preparing the employee to independently perform job duties associated with maintaining, repairing and improving manufacturing equipment and plant utility systems.
Key Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities
Under the supervision of more senior mechanics, the multicraft maintenance mechanic trainee will work towards independent capability to:
• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on belts, piping, filters, mixers, valves, bearings, mechanical seals, and pumps.
• Troubleshoot and proof test equipment as necessary to solve problems and proactively prevent them.
• Maintain industrial electrical systems from 120V single phase to 480V 3 phase.
• Install, test, and maintain instrumentation and control devices including 4-20mA, 0-10V, and 24V loops, pressure-sensing units, level sensors, and flow measuring devices.
• Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot and repair Allen Bradley PLC's and install, test and maintain process motor control systems.
• Work from detailed technical documents, blueprints, schematics, etc.
• Perform basic welding, fabrication, and pipe fitting necessary for maintenance
• Obtain basic understanding of liquid measuring and chemical testing for regular boiler water treatment
• Operate and maintain HVAC, boiler, and compressed air systems.
Duties and Responsibilities Related to Universal and Hazardous Waste Management
• Responsible for the proper collection of hazardous waste
• Responsible for proper collection of universal waste
• Responsible for the proper marking, labelling and closure of hazardous and universal waste containers
• Responsible for immediately contacting the Emergency Coordinator in the event of discovering or causing a leak or spill
Duties and Responsibilities Related to Process Safety Management (PSM)
• Responsible for following all PSM related policies, procedures and work instructions
• Responsible for following all Emergency Action Plans
• Responsible for participation in process and batch improvement activities
• Responsible for participation in Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) determination and completion
• Responsible for participation in Management of Change (MOC), Incident Investigation, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) and other safety related committees and teams
Job Requirements
• 0-2 years' experience in maintenance or related skilled trades. Two years of technical training preferred, but not required. Ability to show aptitude in comprehending and working on mechanical, electrical, controls, HVAC, and/or piping systems.
• Experience using basic hand and power tools
• Interest in learning to read, interpret, and understand technical documents and drawings of plant equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to perform confined space entry, work at heights, lifting, and manual labor.
• Basic PC skills and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel software.
• Work history showing punctuality and reliability
• High School degree or equivalent

• Forklift Training - every 3 years
• Other training as determined
