Earlham College is seeking an Assistant Director for the McNair Program to join the team!

Summary:

The McNair Assistant Director is responsible for the successful execution of the federal grant-funded Ronald E. McNair Post baccalaureate Achievement Program at Earlham College. The Assistant Director reports to and works closely with the McNair Program's Director. They also facilitate meaningful learning of course and program outcomes through student centered instruction aligned to the needs of the graduate program admissions process.

The Assistant Director's responsibilities include tracking participant program activity, logistics, communication with McNair Scholars, internal reporting, and institutional coordination with other College based activities to maximize Scholars' opportunities. The Assistant Director is responsible for creating a culture that values lifelong learning, integrity, community, peace and justice, and respect for persons.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director on the daily operation of Earlham College's McNair Program.
  • Serve as an informed advisor to McNair Scholars on McNair program offerings and graduate degree seeking.
  • Establish and coordinate mentoring relationships and activities between McNair Scholars and Earlham faculty.
  • Collect data required by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Coordinate student support services with existing institutional services versus McNair-specific opportunities for students e.g., tutoring.
  • Maintain student records in required program database i.e., StudentAccess.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for students and guest speakers, including making fiscal arrangements and providing details to travelers.
  • Actively monitor Program budget with the McNair Program Director.
  • Work with institutional constituencies to ensure full support for McNair Scholars to include teaching faculty, student support services staff, Residential Life, Accounting, etc.
  • Develop, present, and evaluate programming for participants.
  • Additional duties as needed to support the McNair Scholars program and Earlham College.
  • Be a positive example to Earlham students.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education, Administration, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in higher education administration, student mentoring, counseling, advising, or other student services area.
  • Demonstrated intentional commitment to target population, first generation, under resourced students and/or students historically underrepresented in higher education.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Able to incorporate program services with other College programs.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment.
  • Familiar with spreadsheets, word processors, and slide deck software programs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with diverse constituencies and colleagues of other College programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with TRIO programs, the Higher Education Act, and U.S. Department of Education federal regulations.
  • Experience with grant management.
