Join Mass General Brigham as a CRNA and be a part of our world-class healthcare team in Salem, MA. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional anesthesia services to our patients. Working under the general supervision of the Lead CRNA and Physician Supervisor, you will review patients' medical history, determine the appropriate type of anesthesia, administer anesthetics, and monitor patients throughout procedures. Your flawless execution of anesthesia will contribute to the successful outcomes of our patients.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, your principal duties and responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with supervisors to review patients' medical history and determine the most suitable type of anesthesia.
- Ensuring the safety of anesthetic equipment, supplies, and drugs by thorough preparation and evaluation.
- Conducting the induction and maintenance of anesthesia, both general (intravenous/inhalation) and regional anesthesia, under the direction of the appointed supervisor.
- Inserting invasive monitoring lines required for an anesthetic and interpreting the data.
- Monitoring the life support functions of patients during anesthesia or surgery, assessing and treating physiological responses to anesthesia, and keeping supervisors informed of patients' conditions.
- Recording relevant information about the anesthetic course on patients' clinical charts.
- Providing observation and care in the immediate postoperative period until a report has been given to the RN or MD covering the appropriate recovery area.
As a CRNA, you will be responsible for supplying documentation of continued registration, ensuring that you meet the highest standards of professional practice.

As a CRNA, you should possess the following skills, abilities, and competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and pharmacology as they relate to anesthesia.

Qualifications QualificationsCertified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are licensed, registered, advanced practice nurses who have completed a postgraduate certificate or a master's degree in anesthesia. Nurse anesthetists must become certified by completing a national qualifying examination in the specialty of anesthesia. To maintain their license to practice anesthesia, CRNAs must be recertified biannually by attending 40 contact hours of continuing education programs.
