Operations Manager

Huntsville, AL

Contract Position

Responsibilities:

  • Manage production plant operations, personnel, and on-time delivery by overseeing multiple departments and directing materials and equipment for scalable and profitable output.
  • Draft and implement processes, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure safety practices are followed and foster an atmosphere of continuous improvement and idea generation.
  • Lead employee selection, retention, and development, promoting from within where possible.
  • Oversee daily production, addressing material shortages, quality issues, and personnel constraints to maintain optimal output.
  • Leverage MRP programs to ensure data transparency and make labor adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflow and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and solve production or quality issues.
  • Support facility management, including production layout changes, environmental policies, and waste removal initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
    • Safety and quality of processes and products.
    • First Pass Yield and customer reject rates.
    • On-time delivery of products per the production plan.
    • Inventory reliability and accuracy on the production floor.
  • Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Operations Management, or a related field, or 10+ years of relevant experience overseeing electrical/mechanical manufacturing.
    • Experience: Strong background in electromechanics and SMT assembly.
  • Desired Skills:
    • Flexibility to work varying hours to ensure on-time delivery.
    • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
    • Conflict resolution skills with the ability to maintain team cohesion.
