Job Summary

Leadership, Prevention, and Wellness Educators (LPWEs) facilitate alcohol education, bystander intervention, and hazing prevention programs for the entire sorority and fraternity community at IU. These programs include Party Smarter, Not Harder, Step Up, and Hoosiers Not Hazers. LPWEs may have opportunities to lead additional prevention and wellness initiatives with the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life throughout the school year.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Undergraduate educators should be a member, in good standing, of a sorority/fraternity recognized by Indiana University and supported by OSFL.
  • Facilitates 2 to 3 presentations per week, based on need.
  • Attends paid mandatory monthly facilitator meetings and trainings.
  • Attends paid mandatory check-in meetings with your supervisor each semester.
  • Completes online reflections after each completed presentation.
  • Responds within 48 hours to emails sent by a supervisor.
  • Communicates early and often with your supervisor regarding questions and/or concerns.
  • Works with your supervisor to find a replacement for conflicts with your assigned presentations.

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • Undergraduates must be a current member, in good standing, of a sorority or fraternity recognized by Indiana University and supported by The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life.
  • Performs well in a team-oriented and collaborative atmosphere.
  • Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others.
SKILLS

Required
  • Ability to confidently deliver presentations and facilitate discussions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, keep accurate records, and meet deadlines
  • Experience in leading groups or projects
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Efficiently balancing academic responsibilities and work duties
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and work with others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working independently on tasks

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
