Position Summary:

The Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies (BCAS), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in clinical and translational addiction research. The successful applicant will be primarily involved in clinical and human laboratory studies that aim to characterize addiction risk mechanisms and evaluate the efficacy of candidate treatments. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will gain expertise in the development and oversight of randomized clinical trials and drug administration protocols and will have opportunities for leadership roles in data analysis and manuscript preparation. Training in grant writing will also be emphasized as part of this role. Opportunities for clinically oriented roles may be available for candidates with clinical backgrounds. The Research Associate will benefit from exposure to diverse training and collaborative opportunities by way of affiliations with BCAS (a specialty Alcohol Research Center with P60 and T32 funding from NIAAA) and the UNC School of Medicine.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Ph.D degree in a relevant field (e.g., clinical, cognitive or experimental psychology;
pharmacology; neuroscience)

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Strong laboratory, communication, and analytical skill are required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

The preferred candidate will will have a doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., clinical,
cognitive or experimental psychology; pharmacology; neuroscience) prior to the start
date, with a strong record of research productivity. Prior experience leading human
subjects protocols is required for this position; experience with either clinical or
human laboratory/psychopharmacology protocols is preferred. Expertise in an
additional area such as cognitive science, psychophysiology, neuroimaging, or
behavioral economics would be an asset. Strong quantitative skills and experience
with regulated research protocols would be additional assets.
