Position Summary:

The Department of Epidemiology is seeking a candidate to coordinate the scale up of the Iowa Refugee Mental Health program funded by the Iowa Bureau of Refugee Services. Coordinate and provide support to the roll out of the World Health Organizations' Problem Management Plus (PM+) intervention across Iowa. Key areas of responsibility include project and operations management, communication and outreach, compliance, and quality improvement.

Responsibilities:

Operational Support and Management:

Network with ECBOs and other community partners to market PM+ in Central Iowa

Supervise the Western Iowa Coordinator to market PM+ in Western Iowa.

Make presentations in the community to educate what PM+ is and how the community can become involved.

Collaborate closely with resettlement agencies, conduct presentations for resettlement staff regarding PM+

Coordinate referral process with ECBOs, resettlement agencies, other community partners.

Coordinate with resettlement agencies and local partners to recruit and screen potential Helpers.

Assist with the Helpers Training.

Recruit, train and coordinate practice clients.

Screen refugee clients and match with Helpers.

Support Helpers in identifying space to meet with clients.

Support Helpers with technology issues to meet with clients virtually.

Support helpers in setting up client visits and hold them accountable for following up on referrals in a timely manner.

Meet regularly with Clinical Mentors.

Meet regularly with Helpers .

Identify potential mental health licensed supervisors in each county in coordination with resettlement agency focal points.

Identify referral options for further mental health support in each county.

Support Helpers as they navigate University systems.

Maintain accurate records and submit monthly reports on project activity.

Support and hold Helpers accountable for entering program data and submitting time records and mileage.

Report on and oversee accounting of project funding.

Ensure that program data is being monitored and collected.

Compile data from all coordinators and submit to the Bureau of Refugee Services for the ORR report.

Produce quarterly reports on project activity and impact.

Communication and Outreach:

Serve as liaison between all partners to meet operational goals.

Facilitate in-person consultations, phone conversations, virtual meetings and written communication with all partners across the central Iowa to realize project goals.

Quality Improvement:

Coordinate program activities to ensure compliance with University of Iowa policies, procedures, practices and programs, as well as with federal, state and local legal/regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Law or related field and a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 2 years previous experience developing, implementing, or evaluating programs.

Previous experience interacting with, maintaining relationships, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders.

Driver's License and ability to travel frequently within the State of Iowa is required. Ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Law or related field.

Desired Qualifications:

Ability to speak another language of refugee populations in Iowa.

Previous experience working with refugees, the federal refugee policy, resettlement programs at the State or National level.

Some knowledge of the mental health care system.

This position is eligible for remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
