Role Description: The R&D Director Lacquers & Printing and Process Innovation is responsible for identify, plan, and implement of assigned roadmap of projects, services, process improvements or qualifications for ODMs and materials innovations to achieve the safety, quality, cost reduction and efficiency objetives of the Region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate internal and external customer requests and work with team members to develop and propose strategies to provide solutions to meet those needs by developing Business Cases with potential can or end direct materials cost savings opportunities with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Suppliers.
- Manage a high number of complex projects within the key departmental project teams through all stage gates from idea conception to full plant rollout and commercialization to the approved budget and timeline.
- Lead dedicated expert/specialist teams in a confined, dedicated field of expertise, identifying resource needs and establish capital project budgets to support the Sector's business objectives.
- Provide technical assistance to complaints, qualifications and services (e.g. analytical and testing services) to the manufacturing operations and laboratory to resolve quality and/or productivity issues to meet budgeted goals.
- Provides technical support to technical licensees in the areas of direct materials reduction, technical documentation and product problem resolution, ensuring timely execution of team deliverables such as high-quality products or service and documentation
- Leads cross-functional project teams with suppliers and universities that are beneficial to the goals of the organization.
Requirements:
- Diploma-/or Master's degree in relevant area (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Print Engineering)
- Minimum of 4-5 years of management/project management experience
- 4-5 years of experience in Coating and Printing Technologies
- Project management desired
- Familiarity with Six Sigma development tools and methodologies beneficial
- Excellent language skills in English (speaking and writing)
- Experience in management of product or process (equipment) development teams
- Experience in management of projects of high technical complexity
- Experience in product development working in an engineering, business unit, or manufacturing role

The anticipated base annual salary range for this role is between $153,100.00 and $229,700.00 per year. This role is bonus eligible. The bonus incentive program is based on company meeting or exceeding targets. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate and is only applicable for roles that are based out of Illinois. The final salary will be determined after considering relevant factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's qualifications, experience, and work location, where appropriate.
