Who are we looking for?

GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Proposal Team Manager to support our regional practice. The selected candidate can be in most of our office locations throughout California. The Regional Proposal Team Manager will collaborate with regional leadership successfully to align both growth targets and winning work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Foster and sustain consultative relationships with Winning Work teams across the business to enhance Internal Client Satisfaction.
  • Understand industry trends and ability to adjust accordingly
  • Manage and lead the teams of Proposal Leaders within Region.
  • Mentor, develop, and coach Proposal Leaders to ensure career paths are mapped appropriately.
  • Manage the proposal workload to optimize efficiency and collaboration across regions.
  • Manage the successful development of compliant, competitive, cogent, and compelling proposals through effective collaboration across teams.
  • Ensure the high-quality content and appearance of all regional-level proposal deliverables.
Client Focus:
  • Provide interface management with the entire staff of proposal participants, including: Clients, Market Leaders, Regional Finance Managers, Project Managers, Technical Leads and Engineers, Legal and Insurance departments.
  • Collaborate with Capture Managers to resource business-level opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other Regional Proposal Team Managers to resource regional-level proposals (cross-functional).
People:
  • Manage and drive the proposal process (standard and expectations) within the region.
  • Evaluate, oversee and validate the win strategy for our top pursuits with the goal of achieving a > 50% win rate.
  • As required, teaming with a PL to lead and develop regional/national opportunities $1M+.
  • Assist in the completion of high-quality, persuasive proposals and presentations.
  • Manage the continual improvement of proposal procedures and guidelines.
  • Manage the quality and improvement process for proposal submittals and ensure compliance with corporate management goals and approved proposal processes.
  • Provide color reviews within LOA
  • Oversee and manage internal and external debriefs for both successful and unsuccessful proposals
  • Oversee and control Content Library files.
  • Participate in industry organizations that help build GHD brand, e.g. Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP), Society of Marketing Professionals (SMPS), and American Marketing Association (AMA).
  • Manage direct reports and other ad hoc duties as required:
    • Approve timesheets and PTO.
    • Conduct performance reviews.
    • Provide and facilitate internal proposal training for regional PL team and internal stakeholders.
    • Coaching and mentoring team
  • Responsibility for own actions and faces challenges openly by:
    • Performing delegated tasks as per GHD guidelines.
    • Presenting ideas for improvement or innovation to management in a persuasive manner and supported by relevant research.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Proven leadership and strategy development skills.
  • Strong collaborative skills to enable productive knowledge sharing and quickly build rapport with others.
  • Understand industry trends and ability to adjust accordingly
  • Strong communication skills both written & oral good negotiation, problem solving, planning and time management skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Understanding of marketing techniques (layout, graphics, strategy-to-win).
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, InDesign.
  • Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Even tempered in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Consistent personal ethics: integrity, dependability, initiative, and quality.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in English, Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related major
  • Minimum five years of experience leading the proposal process from pre-positioning phases through interview and driving teams to develop compliant and competitive bids for an engineering, construction or professional services organization

Salary Range: $108,000- $169,000 based on experience
