Job Info


Performs independent scientific research including complex laboratory testing, experiments and analysis following established protocols. Designs and develops research objectives for experimentation in conjunction with Dr. Goodwin and Staff Scientists, and students. Helps to analyze and evaluate findings. Assists in completion of grant applications and other regulatory documents. Writes technical summaries and co-authors articles for publication. Typically works under broad direction of principal investigator. Must possess ability to implement experiments in the subject discipline with the ability to troubleshoot issues. Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline required. Possesses ability to run complex data analysis on data sets generated from microscopy experiments and EHR searches. General level of knowledge of project management, decision-making, and analytical skills. Wide-field and confocal microscopy skills are beneficial. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a research group or team.

Daily Operations

  • Performs complex analysis of data collected and writes interpretative reports; verifies the correctness of the data submitted and makes recommendations based on these analyses.
  • Assist in generating data, figures and writing grants
  • Co-authors articles and abstracts; performs literature reviews; works with principal investigators on preparing manuscripts and providing figures for grants; prepares and submits papers based on research work for publication or presentation to peers
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills
  • Knowledge of experimental techniques including immunofluorescence, wide-field and confocal microscopy, image analysis, and mammalian cell culture
  • Analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and communicate data in a clear concise way.
  • Computer literacy; technical experience.
  • Ability to work with a team and coordinate activities

Required Education and Experience
  • B.S. and research related experience
