Research NursePediatrics - Hematology/Oncology

SummaryThis is a nursing research position. Training will be provided to develop the necessary skills required of a research nurse. The primary responsibility of the Research Nurse is to manage RN responsibilities in the conduct of clinical trials. This position also requires management of global oncology research within the Hematology/Oncology department. The Research Nurse I is required to have an in-depth knowledge of protocol requirements and good clinical practices as set forth by federal regulations. As one of the primary RN resources for pediatric Hematology/Oncology and stem cell transplant protocols, the Research Nurse I acts as a liaison between the patient, investigator, Institutional Review Board(IRB) and sponsor in carrying out the RN responsibilities of the protocol. The Research Nurse screens, enrolls and follows study patients, ensuring protocol compliance and close patient monitoring, all as part of the required learning process required in this primary position for advancement toward a Research Nurse II and III position. The Research Nurse I provides direct patient care for clinical trials subjects. The Research Nurse collects data and source documentation, adverse event reporting and maintenance of complete regulatory files, also as a part of the learning experience.
Required Qualifications* RN with current licensure required. Must be licensed through the State of Louisiana by date of hire. * Bachelor's Degree required.
Preferred Qualifications* Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly desired* Certification as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals or ACRP) OR Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP through the Society of Clinical Research Associates or SoCRA) is strongly desired.* Computer/data entry experience desired
