Location: Skillman but will be moving to Summit NJ in Q1 of 2025
Travel Requirement: Up to 25% domestic and international
Pay: 68 - 95,500

What will you do

The Scientist, R&D is responsible for delivering against the Lubriderm innovation pipeline and serving as the technical lead in base business (marketed product) support.

We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join Skin Health Product and Process Development team. Reporting directly to the Manager, this role focuses on supporting the development and optimization of skin health products. The Scientist will play a critical role in ensuring product efficacy, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in formulation science, process development, and experience in GxP (e.g. GDP, GMP, GCP) compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Strong communication skills together with the ability to manage complexity are required prerequisites. The candidate will provide strategic and operational skills in the end to end execution of regional and global projects, including analyzing consumer insights to help build a strategic innovation pipeline. He/She will participate in cross functional projects and may serve as the regional leader for North America Skin Health R&D in global programs. Technical activities include, but not limited to: product design/formulation and process development/process scale-up to support the Lubriderm innovation pipeline, perform DOEs in support of investigations, and make formula updates to support base business activities (due to supply disruption, product improvements/upgrades, etc.), operate and lead independent of technical direction and execute projects and analysis with hands-on involvement. The Scientist may also draft and execute peer reviewed manuscripts, tech reports and patent fillings.

Ability to manage routine organizational processes and complexity, risk-taking and decision making are crucial components of the role in providing mentorship and solutions to technical problems.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree is required (Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Pharmacy is preferred)

• A minimum of 2-4 years of related experience (academic or industry), or a Master's or PhD Degree with a minimum of 0-1 years of related experience (academic or industry)

• Experience with personal care formulation is required

• Cosmetics, OTC or pharmaceutical experience is required.

• A good technical foundation of formulated products including emulsions, surfactants, suspensions, structured liquids, an understanding of material chemistry and process equipment is required.

• Process development/process scale-up experience is required.

• Experience working with external manufacturing and technical project management is required

• Fluent written and oral English communication skills are required.

• MS Office (Word and Excel) proficiency, excellent oral and written communication skills and solid presentation skills are required

Desired Qualifications

• Considerable experience in formulating skincare products highly preferred.

• People leadership skills preferred

• Familiarity with cGMP and other regulatory requirements is preferred
